Overview
The MRI Technologist I is responsible for reviewing the Physician Order and reason for exam, patient preparation, positioning, and performing MRI imaging of patients. The MRI Technologist demonstrates an advanced functional knowledge of MRI/MRA and related clinical indicators for exams to be performed. The MRI Technologists may adjust scanning protocols based on the anatomy/physiology presented during the scan. The MRI Technologist works closely with MRI leadership and the Radiologist to produce the most diagnostic images possible in accordance with the department protocols. Administers contrast media required per specific diagnostic protocols. The MRI Technologist may also assist the physician/APP with the performance of MRI-guided invasive procedures. Performs a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, with integrity and initiative and be able to work with minimum supervision.

Responsibilities
Review Physician Order and reason for exam; prepare patient and position for MRI imaging
Perform MRI imaging in accordance with department protocols
Adjust scanning protocols as appropriate based on anatomy/physiology
Collaborate with MRI leadership and Radiologist to ensure high-quality diagnostic images
Administer contrast media per diagnostic protocols
Assist physicians with MRI-guided invasive procedures as needed
Perform a variety of technical procedures with independent judgment and minimal supervision
Qualifications
Completion of an accredited MRI Technologist program
Advanced certification in MRI by ARRT or ARMRIT; OR MRI Registry-eligible with certification within 12 months of hire
Maintains Continuing Education credits (24 CEU in two periods) and other requirements to maintain ARRT certification
Licensure: Current Indiana MRI Technologist license preferred; Healthcare BLS certification
Experience: 1 year of current or recent experience in MRI scanning preferred
