JMT Technology Group, a leading geospatial and information technology services and solutions provider, has an opening for a GIS Analyst with experience analyzing and maintaining data using the ESRI suite of products, focusing on emergency, construction, and asset management. This individual will report to the JMT Raleigh, NC office but will also provide as-needed on-site/remote support for a local client.

Note: this position is not eligible for employer-based sponsorship, except for TN visa classification.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Review and interpret source data files and translate information into GIS format.

Review field-collected data and perform QC/verification using GPS and other mobile data collection tools.

Use Desktop ESRI applications to create, edit, and maintain vector GIS data in various formats, including file geodatabase, SDE, Portal, shapefile.

Create, publish, and edit feature and manage map services in ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS.

Perform edits to GIS data in a versioned database (branch and traditional), reconcile/post edits, and resolve conflicts.

Create, update, and maintain ArcGIS Online/Portal platform applications such as Story Maps, Field Maps, Experience Builder, and Survey 123 Connect.

Utilize analysis capabilities within ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online to perform complex spatial analysis and present results clearly.

Process data and map requests, producing high-quality map deliverables in hard and soft copy formats.

Develop Python scripts or use Model Builder to automate geoprocessing tasks.

Create Arcade or SQL expressions for custom content in ArcGIS applications.

Assist in developing training materials and provide instruction to staff and clients.

Test and deploy custom GIS applications and tools.

Evaluate new software and suggest innovative GIS approaches for projects.

Support project and task managers in planning, executing, and reporting on work.

Work with clients to identify requirements and develop cost-effective GIS solutions.

Implement quality assurance and quality control procedures, suggesting process improvements.

Required Skills

Knowledge of GIS concepts, data creation, conversion, manipulation, and analysis.

Experience with geodatabase administration and enterprise geodatabases.

Scripting skills in Python, Arcade, and SQL.

Experience with GPS technologies and mobile data collection tools.

Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and prioritization skills.

Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft 365 Suite.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Required Experience

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in geography, GIS, computer science, or related field, with relevant coursework.

Minimum three years of experience with Esri technology, including ArcGIS Pro and Portal for ArcGIS.

Ability to work independently on geoprocessing tasks.

Experience working collaboratively with diverse teams and clients.

Ability to mentor junior staff and lead project tasks.

Preferred Experience

GIS Professional (GISP) certification.

Experience with Autodesk or MicroStation.

Experience with FME or Data Interoperability tools.

Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise/Server/Portal administration.

Experience with open-source GIS applications.

Working Conditions Work is performed mainly in an office environment, with occasional fieldwork for data collection or verification. The position is full-time and on-site. No hazardous conditions are expected.
