What to Expect Tesla Automation is seeking a highly motivated Controls Engineer for the Tesla factories in Nevada, California and Texas, to contribute to the design and development of new automation equipment and assembly lines. As a Manufacturing Controls Dev Engineer, you will be directly responsible for the development and implementation of the equipment. Join our team to build the machines producing world-leading products and accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy. The Manufacturing Controls Dev Engineer will work to design software for new assembly lines and single operating machines, that Tesla Automation will launch in the Tesla US plants. Once these machines and assembly lines are set upon site, the Manufacturing Controls Dev Engineer will be working to commission and ramp up the equipment until handover to the local teams is completed. This includes bringing the equipment up to and above goals for cycle time, availability and yield.

What You\'ll Do

Development of software for single processes and machines for Tesla Automation assembly lines

Create and realize concepts for automatic mode, calibration routines, collision avoidance, product tracing, recovery and rework

Debug and optimize automated processes to maximize cycle time, improve availability and yield

Perform hands-on work with full-scale production equipment, from initial commissioning to mass production at Tesla facilities

Intensive collaboration in cross-functional teams from other departments such as mechanical design, mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, and production

Participate in software development, commissioning and FAT runs at Tesla Automation facilities in Germany

What You\'ll Bring

Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or 5+ years relevant experience, or equivalent experience

2+ years as a hands-on Controls or Applications Engineer in automated systems

Experience with PLCs (Siemens TIA Portal, Beckhoff TwinCAT)

Proficiency with HMI systems (Ignition, SIMATIC WinCC, TwinCAT HMI, Studio 5000)

Knowledge of Fieldbus Networks (PROFINET, EtherCAT, Ethernet IP)

Experience with vision systems (Keyence, Cognex)

Advanced programming skills for industrial equipment

Skilled in commissioning and troubleshooting servo/variable frequency drives

Familiarity with electrical prints and industrial equipment standards

Willingness to travel to Tesla facilities in the U.S. and Germany
