This position empowers a seasoned Mechanical Engineer to act as a Senior Project Manager or Design Manager for private and public clients in New York City.
Responsibilities
Deliver projects in a fast‑growing MEP department, managing technical design and execution of complex, multidisciplinary MEP projects valued at $100,000–$75MM.
Lead mechanical/HVAC engineering design, supervise and mentor staff engineers and CAD drafters using AutoCAD and Revit.
Create specifications, coordinate disciplines, produce shop drawings and submittals, review construction site work, and provide code reviews.
Prepare technical writing support and cost estimates for RFPs, and manage overall proposal preparation for public agencies.
Participate in client presentations.
Required Skills & Experience
10‑15 years of MEP project experience, especially mechanical and HVAC system design.
Project Management experience delivering complex MEP jobs with basic knowledge of all disciplines.
Design‑Build delivery experience preferred.
Private and public sector client relationships preferred.
Experience interfacing with architects, contractors, other clients and sub‑consultants.
Strong leadership and communication skills; mentor younger staff.
Experience designing mechanical and HVAC systems in Revit MEP and AutoCAD.
Experience designing Central Utilities projects (Boiler Plants, Chiller Plants); cogeneration experience a plus.
Attend meetings, conduct site visits and field inspections of mechanical and HVAC systems.
Prepare mechanical and HVAC engineering calculations, reports, construction drawings and specifications.
BS in Mechanical Engineering.
Must be a licensed PE in NYS; valid driver’s license required.
PMP certification preferred.
Salary Range The projected range for this position is $150,000–$205,000 annually (NY only).
