Position: Sr. Electrical Design Specialist

Job Summary

Performs design and drafting of both electrical and mechanical aspects of electrical/electronic equipment. Responsibilities include:

Designing wiring harnesses

Layout drawing and checking of schematic diagrams as supplied in rough form by electrical engineering

Creating wiring diagrams from schematic diagrams (and vice versa)

Performing overall Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) chassis and housing design/drafting, including system packaging

Selecting LRU/wiring harness components (e.g., connectors, wire, shielding, terminators, terminal lugs)

Producing schematic diagrams and/or CAD drawings for use by customers, plants, operations, or vendors

Ensuring deliverables meet data management configuration control standards

Skills & Qualifications

Experience with electrical/electronic systems of military ground vehicles

Ability to complete designs from concept to validation, including detailed design, documentation, and verification

Proficient in advanced modeling and analysis tools for developing product specifications, simulations, and integration/verification procedures

Expert knowledge of CAD drafting/modeling and design techniques

Experience designing and routing wiring harnesses/cable assemblies, including developing related drawings

Proficient with Creo Pro-Cable (minimum 2 years experience)

Knowledge of MIL-STD-100, ANSI Y14.5/14.41, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

Experience with wire routing using Logical Data from Siemens Capital Harness

Familiar with military electrical connector and cabling specifications

Ability to create wiring harness schematics using Visio Technical

Strong teamwork, oral, and written communication skills in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment

Experience

5 years of Creo Design

Education

One of the following:

Associate Degree in a relevant technical discipline plus 9 years of experience

Equivalent combination of education and experience

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field plus 5 years of experience

Note:

Working knowledge of electrical and electro-mechanical engineering tools is highly preferred.
