Aeva
About us:
Aeva’s mission is to bring the next wave of perception to a broad range of applications from automated driving to industrial robotics, consumer electronics, consumer health, security, and beyond. Aeva is transforming autonomy with its groundbreaking sensing and perception technology that integrates all key LiDAR components onto a silicon photonics chip in a compact module. Aeva 4D LiDAR sensors uniquely detect instant velocity in addition to 3D position, allowing autonomous devices like vehicles and robots to make more intelligent and safe decisions.
Role Overview:
Aeva is seeking to hire a talented and motivated Sr/Staff Hardware Engineer to join our EE HW team. The EE HW team owns the design, build, and bring-up of Aeva’s mixed-signal PCBs. As a Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for developing the System Architecture of our LiDAR system based on product requirements. You will work closely with all EE engineers to define individual PCBs, their functions, and interconnections.
What you’ll be doing:
Break down product requirements into system architecture and EE PCB designs with their interconnections.
Collaborate with Electrical Engineers and cross-functional teams to review design functions and layout placement.
Optimize architecture to reduce hardware and software complexity, as well as cost and power consumption.
Take ownership of PCBs and sub-systems of a LiDAR from schematic design through layout, fabrication, and bring-up.
What you have:
BSc, MSc, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related field.
6+ years of experience in hardware design, from architecture to implementation, prototyping, and high-volume production.
Deep understanding of hardware components, interfaces, and software controls.
Good knowledge of high-speed designs with communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, Ethernet, PCIe, etc.).
Experience and leadership in data acquisition subsystems, including high-speed ADCs, analog sensing, and serial interfaces.
Experience with commercial SI/PI software tools.
Proven track record of releasing complex, multi-layer PCB designs into high-volume production.
Ability to work closely with other engineers and cross-functional teams.
Leadership skills to guide small hardware teams are a plus.
Experience in motion control systems and design is a plus.
Experience in LiDAR or automotive product development is highly desirable.
Salary ranges are from $123,900 to $167,700 annually, depending on role, level, and location. Compensation may include salary, equity, bonus, and other benefits such as medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, parental leave, and holidays.
