Pay Range: $18.87 - $29.73 per hour

Summary
This role will provide care and oversight of the broad patient population seen across the Diagnostic Services areas. This role will support the efficient operation of the department by transporting and/or directing patient flow and by ensuring patients are properly prepped and readied for their exam. This role also performs ECGs for the ED and inpatient population. As a Diagnostic Services Technologist, understands and integrates into the delivery of patient care in regards to their growth and development process. The position actively supports the Hospital’s and Department’s Continuous Quality Improvement and customer service goals, individually and as an effective team member. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and ICARE values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Required Job Qualifications:
Formal Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Medical Assistant (MA) training and certification is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and good typing skills. Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task. Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills and be able to maintain a high degree of professionalism while working in a high-volume, high-stress environment. Should have experience with computerized office systems, medical records documentation, patient confidentiality regulations, and medical terminology. High school diploma or equivalent. Bilingual (English-Spanish) a plus. Competency in IV starts.
Preferred Job Qualifications
Some Anatomy / Physiology understanding preferred.
Physical Demands
Position requires frequent bending, stooping, lifting, assisting patients onto x-ray table, pushing carts, gurneys, wheelchairs, large radiographic equipment and accessory equipment. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted

Responsibilities
Provides basic care needs of the patients while in Diagnostic Services Department in support of the Nurse or Technologist. Escort patients, as needed, to and from various modalities in a manner that supports efficient utilization of departmental resources. Performs and processes ECGs and application of Cardiac Monitors. Performs Point of Care (POC) tests and documents results in EPIC. Has general knowledge of the equipment that may accompany patients to 3 Tower. Has knowledge of and ability to prep patients for diagnostic exams and procedures. Performs IV starts and/or phlebotomy as determined by MD protocol using the technique defined by RUMC policy and under the direction of the Radiologist/Cardiologist supervising the diagnostic exam. Performs Visual Field exams on inpatient population. Obtain baseline vitals, document them in EPIC and notify the appropriate (tech/nurse) Responsible for maintaining a safe and orderly environment and for the wellbeing and safety of the patients under their care as well as that of family members and/or visitors within the Diagnostic Services area. Report any incidents, accidents, or inconveniences involving patients to the Tech/Nurse on duty as well as the Department and be prepared to file a full and detailed incident report as needed. Monitor patients for contrast reaction, distress and hypoglycemia; notify Radiologist with any concerns.
