A Day in The Life You would be joining our Product Development Organization as a Sr. Prin. Development Engineer responsible for the Verification Strategy, Requirement Decomposition, and Specification Development for robotic projects in development. You will partner with Systems Engineering, Marketing, design teams, Quality and Project Management to drive product requirements, a robust design, and an efficient verification strategy. You will contribute technically toward the success of the product and help establish best-practices for proving the product meets the Medtronic Mission.
Responsibilities
Develop and drive a robust and efficient Design Verification strategy for product requirements
Author or review/approve Design Verification protocols and reports
Champion studies and activities such as design of experiments, transfer function development, and simulations
Lead cross-functional failure investigations and analysis
Partner with System Engineering to develop, review and decompose product requirements
Represent the development engineering function on product development extended core teams
Mentor junior and senior development engineers and provide feedback on engineering reports, verification protocols, and verification reports
Liaison with Reliability, Compliance (60601), Hardware and Software teams
Support regulatory submissions and audits as the development engineer SME
Support changes made to projects post-launch
You will
Working on the Medtronic Campus in North Haven, CT or Boston, MA, drive product development activities for the robotic platform
Review and provide input to product requirements; review and approve test methods
Design studies and experiments; analyze test data
Author Engineering Analyses and Reports; plan verification activities
Author Design Verification Protocols and Reports
Troubleshoot failures and recommend design/test/requirement improvements
Mentor junior engineers
Champion continuous improvement projects related to development engineering
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
A Bachelor’s Degree and 10 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in robotics engineering or related field and 8 years of relevant experience
Nice to Have
Minimum of 8 years of experience with direct medical device development
Experience with developing a product according to System Engineering principles
Strong understanding of Regulatory requirements for Design Controls and Design Verification
Experience with statistical methods and analysis for Design Verification
Experience with robotics or electro-mechanical systems
Proven track record of contributing to medical devices of high complexity
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
