Overview
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Sr. Principal Responsible/Analysis Engineer – Fire Protection Systems with experience in aircraft fire protection subsystems development. The position is located in Melbourne, FL and is onsite with no remote work available. This opportunity is contingent on program funding and start dates are determined after funding confirmation. Responsibilities
Perform responsible engineer activities covering fire protection system/component design and development, including trade studies, layouts, architecture definition, system test & verification, and troubleshooting. May involve participating on a subcontractor management team and serving as the technical point of contact with suppliers for hardware development, qualification, and procurement. Conduct system-related analysis, such as performance simulation, to support development and integration of the fire protection subsystem with other aircraft subsystems. Plan and support system-level testing, data processing, verification, and troubleshooting. Perform system-level evaluations to verify requirements and ensure airworthiness. Attend internal program, customer, and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews to provide or obtain progress status updates. Basic Qualifications
Sr. Principal Responsible/Analysis Engineer – Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline with 8 years of engineering experience, OR Master’s degree in STEM with 6 years of experience, OR PhD in STEM with 3 years of experience. Ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance and any program access required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company. Professional experience related to the development and integration of fire protection subsystems or components. Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with focus on thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and/or heat transfer. Experience with aircraft subsystem development, including requirements definition, specification development, component analysis, procurement, source selection, integration and test and verification for advanced aircraft. Experience performing thermodynamic, fluid mechanics and/or heat transfer analysis related to military or commercial aircraft and subsystems. Experience modeling fluid systems using Amesim, MATLAB/Simulink, Thermal Desktop, Flomaster, and/or STAR-CCM+. Experience with MIL-HDBK-516 military airworthiness certification process. Experience interpreting component drawings, specifications, installation drawings, and test procedures. Experience supporting pursuits and proposals, including generating, reviewing, and approving technical proposals and BOEs. Demonstrated leadership related to integrated product teams, including supplier and customer relations. Salary and Benefits
Primary Level Salary Range: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00. The salary range is a guideline; base offers consider factors such as responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long-term incentives may apply depending on the position.
