GE Vernova Advanced Research is leading research and development efforts to help power the energy transition by electrifying and decarbonizing the grid.

Key Responsibilities

Design, commission, and validate power and signal interface circuits and corresponding printed circuit board (PCB) for controllers and instrumentation applied in power conversion systems.

Capture schematic and layout complex embedded and power electronics boards.

Procure, fabricate, assemble electrical and mechanical components, subsystems and complete system assembly of engineering prototypes for research programs.

Design fixtures, electrical and electronic subsystems, instrumentation, data acquisition, mechanical and thermal subsystems for evaluation of electrical systems intended for a wide variety of applications.

Perform signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI/EMC analysis for high-speed and mixed-signal designs.

Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and systems teams for end-to-end hardware integration.

Develop and implement test procedures for electrical systems and document performance characteristics.

Troubleshoot and solve electrical and mechanical problems where objectives are clearly defined but course of action must be considered and determined.

Maintain standard laboratory equipment and facilities including calibration of instruments and monitoring devices.

Perform all work in accordance with EHS guidelines and compliance policies.

Qualifications

Masters degree in electrical engineering or related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience, or Bachelors degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience, or Associates degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience; primary focus in technology applied to power electronics and/or embedded systems.

Experience designing and commissioning electrical/electronic circuits and printed circuit board (PCB) layout applied in power conversion systems with considerations on signal fidelity, noise, EMI/EMS, and thermal management.

Substantial experience designing test fixtures, including electrical, thermal, mechanical, and instrumentation technologies. Proficiency with lab validation tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers).

Working knowledge of low, medium & high voltage electrical distribution.

Working knowledge of the electrical codes and standards that apply to large scale energy systems.

Safety First mindset – proactively keeps an eye out for safety issues with initiative to stop work as needed.

Familiarity with Lockout Tagout (LOTO) Safety Programs and LOTO Compliance.

Familiarity with Arc Flash analysis and testing.

Documentation of test setup, major procedures, findings/results.

Preliminary data processing skills and using MS Excel and writing reports in MS Word.

Familiarity with software like Altium Designer, OrCAD, Cadence Allegro, KiCad, Mentor Graphics, LTspice, PSpice, MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS SIwave, Keysight ADS, HyperLynx, PLECS, Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, ModelSim, ARM/Keil MDK, IAR Embedded Workbench, Git, SVN, Jira, Confluence.

Hardware and laboratory equipment like high bandwidth oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum/network analyzers, power analyzers, electronic loads, SMUs, thermal cameras, JTAG debuggers, in-circuit emulators, boundary scan tools, soldering rework stations, multimeters, function generators, high-voltage probes, isolated measurement gear, double-pulse test setups.

Demonstrated successful track record of completing tasks and deliverables on schedule and on budget.

Compensation The base pay range for this position is $79,400-$119,000. This position is also eligible for a performance bonus and will be posted until at least 10/20/25.
