ESS Paraprofessionals are innovative and enthusiastic individuals seeking to prepare students for a successful future. Hopi Junior/Senior High School is committed to helping students develop skills in personal-social growth, educational planning, and career development. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Provide supplementary assistance to the ESS Teacher in identifying students needing ESS services, including processes like Child Find, referral, screening, assessment, IEP development, and placement. Assist in instructional services to identify exceptional student needs using an inclusion model or other appropriate systems, collaborating with classroom teachers. Support the ESS Teacher in ensuring parental involvement in IEP development, implementation, and review. Communicate regarding the Special Education Program in accordance with privacy and confidentiality laws. Maintain accurate ESS Program data and information for each student. Help develop policies, procedures, and curriculum strategies that align with legal guidelines. Assist in computer lab activities, parental involvement initiatives, library/media center support, and act as a translator if needed. Perform duties following Hopi Junior/Senior High School policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Knowledge of classroom management best practices. Understanding of safety rules and student behavior management. Knowledge of district policies, rules of conduct, and ethics. Proficiency in computer skills (Microsoft Office, Internet). Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to maintain emotional control under stress. Knowledge of school policies and rules. Ability to interact professionally and courteously with students, staff, and the public. QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma, GED, or at least 2 years of college (60 credit hours), or equivalent demonstrated knowledge and skills. Knowledge of and ability to assist in instruction of reading, writing, and mathematics or related areas. Proficiency in relevant computer skills. English language proficiency. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Hopi/Indian preference considered. Valid State Driver's License. Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance Card. Successful completion of background checks within the last five years. Completion of the Master Teacher course can substitute for 2 years of higher education. INDIAN PREFERENCE POLICY:
