ALL SITES Duties:

The Director of Disability Services is responsible for the administration, development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of the support services for students with disabilities. The Director is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning. Following are example duties including, but not limited to: Establishes short and long-range goals for the Center for Disability Services that are consistent with the overall goals of the Student Development Division and Moraine Valley Strategic Plan. Performs administrative tasks necessary for implementation of programs, including budgeting, personnel management, procurement of resources and third-party services, etc. Develops, implements, and evaluates a service delivery system that will provide timely and responsive attention to students with disabilities. Meets with students for initial appointments, develops approved accommodation plans, and consults with students and faculty/staff to ensure ongoing access. Carries a regular caseload of students. Develops annual plans, continuous quality improvement plans, writes and provides various reports. Collaborates with Deans, faculty, and academic staff to develop academic interventions that support the success of students with disabilities in the classroom. Works with IT and campus stakeholders to recommend, purchase, and install assistive technology access to electronic campus resources for individuals with disabilities. Develops liaisons with appropriate faculty, community agencies, and other educational institutions regarding services for students with disabilities. Oversees collaboration with high school partners to engage high school students in visit opportunities, and manages the Center for Disability Services new student intake process. Provides professional development for faculty, administrators, and staff to increase awareness and sensitivity to the needs of students with disabilities. Pursues and administers grants and alternative revenue resources related to support services for students with disabilities. When assigned, assists with the review and investigation of complaints related to campus accessibility and non-discrimination of individuals with disabilities. Serves on the Student Development Supervisor’s Council and other division and college committees as assigned. Provide supervision and leadership to CDS staff. Performs related duties as assigned. Education/Experience:

Master’s degree in counseling, special education, social work, or related field. Minimum three to five (3-5) years of full-time experience in a college/university Disability Services office. Prior community college experience is highly desirable. Qualifications:

In addition to the experience and education requirements noted above, the following qualifications are sought: Demonstrated experience and knowledge providing accommodations to college students. Highly developed skill in reviewing and addressing complex student concerns. Advanced proficiency in use of a Student Information System and/or software system designed for Disability Services. Record of successful working relations with students, faculty, staff and stakeholders. Strong collaborative leadership skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A commitment to providing quality services to promote student learning, student development and student success. Preferred:

Experience supervising a disability services office/department. Experience with budgeting and grants management. Administrative/management experience in a community college setting.
