Job Description Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) is a global power‑management semiconductor company. Our automotive and industrial business is growing rapidly, and we are looking for a Functional Safety Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Functional Safety Engineer reporting directly to the Functional Safety Manager, you will support the manager in defining and implementing safety architectures for our next‑generation power portfolio, aimed at automotive applications such as ADAS, battery management, powertrain and more. As experience accumulates, you will be instrumental in building MPS’s functional safety development framework and will collaborate with colleagues and customers across global locations (US, Europe, Asia).

Job Functions

Architect hardware solutions to enable company product compliance with applicable safety standards such as ISO 26262 and IEC 61508.

Work with engineering teams (technical marketing, design, quality and more) to support the Functional Safety Manager in deriving functional safety requirements in compliance with state‑of‑the‑art automotive standards.

Oversee and own implementation of ISO 26262 documentation in JAMA.

Perform the safety analysis, such as DFA, FMEDA, and FTA.

Support the safety assessments with third‑party assessors.

Partner with technical marketing engineers to develop mutually agreeable design specifications.

Participate in ISO 26262 standard conferences.

Occasional domestic and international travel (5‑10% of the time).

Experience Requirements

Strong understanding of analog/mixed‑signal ICs.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions and across regions.

Strong time‑management skills that enable on‑time project delivery.

Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced and rapidly changing environment.

Ability to take the initiative and drive for results.

Strong understanding of the functional‑safety relevant IC product development process a plus.

Automotive or industrial experience a plus.

Experience with ISO 26262 or IEC 61508 a plus.

Experience with MCU or sensor development a plus.

Education Requirements

BS or MS degree with 4+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering, System Engineering, or Automotive Engineering.
