Overview
BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The Lead Quality Inspector is an individual contributor responsible for carrying out inspection procedures on in-process machined components, outside process receiving inspection, customer returns (RMA), containment and FAIR products. The Lead oversees the day-to-day operations of all first shift inspection team members, directs work and provides assistance to ensure the correct processes are being followed at all times. The Lead is also tasked with ensuring that all first shift Inspectors on the team have the appropriate resources to complete their duties. This position reports to the Quality Inspection Manager. Key Accountabilities
Provide detailed in-process inspection on all components using design drawings, sketches, and established processes to verify conformance to design requirements. Use of all inspection equipment and current technology required to be used for product acceptance in the most efficient manner. Identify, document and resolve production issues in accordance with procedures and pursue corrective action as required. Schedule and assign work in the Quality Inspection Department to meet production and delivery schedules. Train associates on processes and procedures of the Quality Inspection Department as needed. Communicate and help resolve quality related issues as they relate to all areas within the Quality Inspection Departments. Document production and outside-process non-conformances in accordance with current procedures and processes established. Support quality management system policies and procedures documentation. Initiates and leads continual improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives. Enforce overall safety of employees. Perform other related duties as assigned. Must be able to interface directly with all departmental personnel to resolve quality control issues and problems as they may arise. Must possess good verbal and written communication skills. Must have high ethical standards and be able to adhere to inspection requirements. Enforce company policies and procedures. Proficient in ASME-Y14.5 (Geometric Tolerancing) requirements with ability to apply and inspect to requirements. Minimum of five (5) years prior experience in precision mechanical inspection as Sr. Inspector (or equivalent). Must be able to communicate and work with others in a courteous and professional manner. Must be able to work well under pressure to meet deadlines. Must be flexible with schedule to support schedule demand.
