Responsibilities Performs a variety of tasks in support of pathologists and other allied healthcare providers. Ensure accuracy and completeness of documents through report review/medical editing, tests ordered, and patient case reports. Transcribe pathology reports and manage quality, research and administrative documents. Coordinate patient case correspondence/materials, order tests and stains, report test results, participate in and ensure billing and coding compliance. Answer telephones, provide follow-through, participate in process improvement including data collection, coordinate case conference materials, and maintain consultant calendar. Accessioning of case materials may be included. Follow work unit standard operating procedures and review/ensure accuracy of those procedures. Serve as a resource and mentor to others by training and mentoring new and existing team members; troubleshoot and resolve problems. Demonstrate initiative, proficiency, and judgment to optimize consultants and other providers\' time. Be highly organized, efficient, and capable of working independently or in a team. Exhibit excellent written and oral communication skills and experience in medical terminology and customer service; prioritize and complete tasks independently and timely. Qualifications Requires four years of secretarial experience in a healthcare setting; or a minimum of five years of recent transcription experience; or an Associate’s degree and two years of related experience. High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Additional Qualifications Experience with computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, electronic calendaring/scheduling systems, and web applications. Excellent grammar, punctuation, and English usage; ability to understand diverse accents and speech variations. Ability to prioritize work, support multiple consultants, handle varied tasks, and maintain high-level organization and clerical aptitude. Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal skills, and customer service; good decision-making and judgment.
