Responsibilities

Responsible for administration of nuclear imaging procedures, calculation, diagnostic, therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals, and adjunctive medications using a variety of equipment and strictly adhering to relevant safety standards. Perform quality nuclear medicine imaging examinations with advanced technical knowledge while maintaining patient care per department policy. Carry out hot lab duties and perform a variety of nuclear medicine studies on inpatients and outpatients across age groups (neonate to geriatric). Understand NRC rules and regulations, practice radiation safety, safely operate cameras and equipment, and process data to required destinations via computer. Prepare, measure, and administer radiopharmaceuticals and therapeutically dosages under physician direction; use radiation-detecting equipment to perform procedures and explain procedures to patients. Implement radiation safety standards and quality assurance; monitor patient condition during imaging procedures; collect patient information and analyze data to provide quality images for diagnosis. May be cross-trained to perform PET/CT scans with understanding of all PETCT-related processes, depending on facility and department needs. Demonstrate teamwork, professionalism, and confidentiality; adapt to change and technology advancements.

Qualifications

Completion of an approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology is required. Certification with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) required; North Dakota MIRT board licensure required for ND practice. PET registered is helpful. Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 60 days of employment; maintain required department competencies and certifications.
