Responsibilities
Join the Critical Care team at our Siena Campus and provide comprehensive medical care to critically ill patients in the Medical/Surgical ICU.
The Critical Care Night Intensivist will provide comprehensive medical care to critically ill patients in our Medical/Surgical ICU. This includes the diagnosis, treatment, and management of complex medical conditions requiring intensive care.
Work collaboratively with nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other specialists to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Work within a critical care team model comprised of residents, pharmacists, nutritionists, PT/OT and palliative care.
Patient population includes critical medical, surgical, cardiovascular, thoracic, and neuro critical care patients.
Provide initial assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing management of critically ill patients.
Perform procedures such as intubation, central line placement, arterial line placement, chest tubes, bronchoscopy, and other critical care procedures as needed.
Manage patients on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support.
Interpret diagnostic studies, including EKGs, chest x-rays, and laboratory results.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures.
Prescribe medications and therapies appropriate for critically ill patients.
Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
Participate in rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings.
Maintain accurate and complete medical records.
Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Provide education and training to medical students, residents, and other healthcare professionals.
Participate in on-call coverage as required.
Qualifications
Board certification in Critical Care Medicine is required.
Fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine is required.
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school required.
Candidates will be expected to be proficient with standard intensive care procedures (advanced airway management, ACLS coverage for the hospital, central lines, dialysis lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, bronchoscopy, etc.).
