The incumbent in this position is a staff therapist who participates in the evaluation and treatment of patients based upon current principles and practices of Speech Language Pathology. Responsibilities Provide direct Speech Language Pathology evaluations and re-evaluations, including assessment of prior and current level of function, setting individualized goals and making discharge recommendations in accordance with standards of practice; provide direct Speech Language Pathology treatments according to standards of practice, including patient and family education, progression of treatment plan and implementation of appropriate therapeutic interventions; report of patient progress through appropriate written documentation including evaluation forms, progress notes, education forms; collaborate with physicians, patients, family and other members of the health care team relative to patient treatment and progress as well as other affiliated agencies with regard to effective discharge planning. Coordinate and prioritize own schedule in relation to demands of patient treatment and other departmental responsibilities. Demonstrate proper use and maintenance of department equipment and supplies; attend and participate in departmental meetings, inservices, rounds and peer reviews; participate in program development as assigned by Team Leader; participate in continuing education programs or other opportunities for learning continued professional competency. Other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and area Work Experience How You’ll Be Successful: At least 2 years Job-related experience preferred (new grads considered) EDUCATION Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience required LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS State of Texas Speech Pathology License upon hire required Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required from the American Heart Association by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements required PPMAB - Pediatric Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behaviors (In-Patient only) 60 Days, required JOB PROFILE Requires in-depth professional knowledge and practical/applied expertise in own discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines within the broader professional field Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; demonstrates awareness of the industry, including regulatory, evolving customer demands, and the factors that differentiate the organization in the market Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience; may lead projects with manageable risks and resource requirements Solves complex problems and takes a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information Impacts a range of customer, operational, project or service activities within own team and other related teams; works within broad guidelines and policies Works independently, receives minimal guidance Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus A Place Where You Belong We put our people first.
