The community you’ll be caring for:
AdventHealth Tampa, a faith-based not-for-profit 626-bed tertiary-level acute care hospital located in the uptown district of Tampa, Florida, specializes in advanced cardiovascular medicine, neuroscience and neurology, digestive health, orthopedics, women’s services, pediatrics, oncology, endocrinology, bariatrics, wound healing, sleep medicine and general surgery including minimally invasive and robot-assisted procedures. GME programs on the hospital campus currently include general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine and transitional year.
AdventHealth Tampa is home to the renowned AdventHealth Pepin Heart Institute, a recognized leader in cardiovascular disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment and leading-edge research – caring for Tampa Bay’s hearts for over 35 years.
The Kiran C. Patel Research Institute, also located at AdventHealth Tampa, leads the way in clinical and academic research in the areas of neuroscience, cardiovascular medicine, advanced surgery and more – contributing valuable knowledge that leads to tomorrow’s cures for conditions such as heart failure, cancer and other diseases.
The role you’ll contribute: Radiation Therapists work with physicians, a medical physicist, and a manager to simulate and administer ionizing radiation therapy to patients. Radiation therapy integrates scientific knowledge and technical skills with effective patient interaction to provide quality patient care and effective therapeutic treatment. Radiation therapists must maintain a high level of accuracy and cognition while executing proper patient positioning and isocenter placement.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
Can properly interpret patient treatment plan and execute patient position and treatment delivery per dosimetry requirements.
Can safely and effectively operate linear accelerator to deliver prescribed dose under supervision of Radiation Oncologist.
Can safely and effectively operate simulation equipment in such a manner as to simulate the prescribed “fields” as directed by the Radiation Oncologist.
Can independently administer treatment and fulfill daily obligations to expedite transportation, scheduling, billing, patient placement, education, and nutritional needs.
Collaborate with department management to smoothly transition paperwork-based documentation system to EMR while maintaining JCAHO and hospital standards.
Display professional conduct essential to the well‑being of the radiation oncology patient.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Graduate from an AMA approved School of Radiation Therapy
Clinical hours from an approved AMA School of Radiation Therapy
ARRT registered or registry eligible Board certified
State of Florida Therapy license
BLS Certification
