Our client, a manufacturer of electrical and gas distribution equipment for utility and industrial markets, is seeking a highly skilled and organized

Engineer Test Lab Manager

to lead and manage their testing laboratory responsible for validating the performance, safety, and reliability of low-high voltage accessories and related components. Their facility is in Irvington, NJ. The ideal candidate will supervise a multidisciplinary team of engineers and lab technicians, oversee daily lab operations, ensure compliance with industry standards, and drive continuous improvement in testing protocols and lab capabilities.

Electrical Engineering degree required. Salary starting at $180,000/year, commensurate with experience. Annual bonus opportunity. This job is onsite Monday-Friday. Key Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and manage a team of test engineers and lab technicians. Oversee planning, setup, execution, and documentation of product tests for medium-voltage and high voltage components (i.e. partial discharge detection, transformers). Manage lab scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow efficiency. Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, and safe operation of lab equipment. Review and approve test plans, procedures, and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal and external standards. Analyze test data and support engineering with product validation and failure investigations utilizing root cause analysis. Interface with product development, quality, and manufacturing teams to support design verification and troubleshooting. Ensure all testing activities comply with relevant industry standards (IEEE, IEC, ANSI) and internal quality systems ( ISO 17025 ). Maintain detailed records of test results, procedures, and lab activities for audits and certifications. Drive process improvements and implement best practices in lab operations and testing methodologies. Evaluate and propose new equipment, tools, and technologies to enhance lab capabilities. Requirements/Qualifications

Electrical Engineering degree required , power engineer preferred. 5+ years of experience in a testing laboratory environment, including 2+ years in a supervisory or managerial role. Experience working at a

manufacturer

greatly preferred. Strong understanding of applicable testing standards (e.g., IEEE, ANSI, IEC). Experience with data acquisition systems, high-voltage test equipment, and failure analysis. Knowledge of ISO 17025 required. Experience with the laboratory accreditation process greatly preferred. Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies a plus. Familiarity with environmental testing (e.g., thermal cycling) a plus. Seniority level
