This APP position will have primary responsibility for the benign hematology patient population. The successful provider will have responsibility for both pediatric and adult hospitalized hematology patients on primary or consultative service. Duties include evaluating patients (including new consultations under provider supervision), ordering medications and blood products, managing prescriptions, radiology and home care orders, educating patients and families on active issues and therapeutic changes, interacting with consultants, assisting with data monitoring, and scheduling appropriate follow up. The successful individual is expected to work collaboratively with other providers within the hematology team and broader CCBD. Participation in focused quality or research projects is encouraged. Prior pediatric hematology experience is preferred but not required. This position works in collaboration with attending physicians and may practice in hospital inpatient and/or outpatient settings. Position Duties
Conducts comprehensive health history, physical assessments and plans for infants, children and young adults with acute and chronic health conditions. Utilizes advanced assessment skills to manage a cohort of patients. Orders and prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions and performs therapeutic or corrective measures to treat illness and improve health status. Formulates family-centered plans of care. Documents daily as necessary. Coordinates care with other team members. Collects data and analyzes information as needed. Performs necessary advanced procedures as part of credentialing process DOP. Utilizes up-to-date evidence-based practices and adapts plans according to family needs and effectiveness. Serves as an educational resource to patients, families, nursing staff, and the provider team as needed. Participates in professional development and mentors staff and students when available. Demonstrates commitment to patient safety by reporting concerns and ensuring practice changes when necessary. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as requested. Position Qualifications
Education
Master’s or Doctorate degree from ACEN/CCNE accredited graduate school of nursing in Pediatric Acute Care, Pediatric Primary Care or Family Medicine OR Master’s degree from a nationally accredited ARC-PA program. Special Skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, strong verbal communication, and basic computer skills. Additional Requirements
Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association or obtained by start date. Current State of Arizona certification as a Nurse Practitioner OR current Arizona certification as a Physician Assistant or obtained by start date.
