Job Summary: The Educational Diagnostician is responsible for assessing and identifying students with learning difficulties and other exceptionalities in compliance with state and federal regulations. The diagnostician collaborates with teachers, parents, administrators, and related service providers to develop and implement appropriate instructional strategies and services that support student success.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive educational evaluations to identify learning disabilities and other exceptional needs.
Administer and interpret standardized academic, cognitive, and diagnostic assessments.
Collect and analyze student data, classroom performance, and teacher/parent input to support eligibility determinations.
Prepare detailed written evaluation reports in compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and district policies.
Participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD/IEP) committee meetings to determine student eligibility and appropriate services.
Collaborate with teachers and administrators to design instructional interventions and accommodations.
Assist in developing, monitoring, and reviewing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Serve as a resource for staff and parents on educational strategies, instructional modifications, and special education processes.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and district timelines and documentation requirements.
Provide consultation and professional development to teachers regarding assessment, instructional strategies, and accommodations for students with diverse needs.
Maintain accurate and confidential student records.
Support child find activities and assist in identifying students in need of special education services.
Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Assessment, Psychology, or related field required.
Valid state certification/licensure as an Educational Diagnostician.
Knowledge of special education law, assessment practices, and instructional strategies.
Strong skills in testing, evaluation, and data interpretation.
Effective communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse student populations preferred.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Physical Demands
Must be able to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods.
Requires handling of testing materials and student records.
Work Environment
Work performed in school settings, including classrooms, offices, and testing environments.
May involve travel between schools within the district.
Frequent collaboration with teachers, administrators, parents, and external professionals.
