Sr Medical Lab Scientist/Medical Technologist role at Summa Health. Full-time / 40 hours per week / 1st shift. Location: Green. Summary

Assists Supervisor/Manager with daily organization and supervision of work activities. Performs duties characteristic of a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Laboratory Technician. Provides technical assistance to managers and staff. Provides training/competency to staff. Facilitates communication between shifts, sections, and hospital departments. Ensures day to day operations are carried out by staff in a professional, service focused manner. Assumes duties of Supervisor/Manager in his/her absence. Assists in ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies including CAP, FDA, CMS (CLIA), TJC and AABB. Minimum Qualifications

Formal Education Required: Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Laboratory Science, or Clinical Laboratory Science (transcripts must be submitted for equivalency evaluation if degree does not list area of study). Acceptable Transcripts: Sixty (60) semester hours or equivalent that include either 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses, or 24 semester hours of science courses including six hours of chemistry, six hours of biology and 12 hours of chemistry/biology/medical laboratory technology; completion of one year in an approved program or equivalent with an accredited recognized agency (e.g., ASCP, AMT, Summa Lab Tech 1 training program). Certifications: Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Lab Scientist (MLS or Categorical), or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) from ASCP or AMT. Experience & Training: MT/MLS – minimum 2 years of related laboratory experience; MLT – minimum 5 years of related laboratory experience. Skills: Ability to read and follow detailed laboratory procedures; computer skills to operate department applications; annual continuing education as required for continued employment; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work under stress; capable of interacting with diverse patient populations with respect and dignity. Other: Knowledge of QC and CAP standards; experience with Document Control Software; ability to write policies and clinical laboratory procedures; physical capability to perform duties (medium workload). Salary and Benefits

$36.83/hr - $44.20/hr. The salary range is base salary exclusive of bonuses or differentials. Hiring at the maximum may not be typical.
