07/2016 Primary Purpose:
Assume responsibility for the safe condition of assigned facilities including repairs to doors, windows, ceiling tile & grid, floor coverings, toilet stalls, lockers, hardware, etc. Under general supervision, maintain plumbing systems and their components district wide. Be able to diagnose and repair/replace various plumbing components such as faucets, mixing valves, circulating pumps, water closets, urinals, and water heaters. Installation or replace/repair cast iron, copper, poly (Pex), and PVC pipe. Installation, troubleshoot, test or repair/replace of natural gas pipe and components. Qualifications:
Education/Experience: High School diploma or equivalent Valid Texas Journeyman or Master Plumbing License Minimum five years experience in general or specialized maintenance Valid Texas Driver’s License Special Knowledge/Skills: Advanced technical training/certification preferred (backflow inspection, repair/replacement) Knowledge of current Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material Estimate material and labor needed for various plumbing projects Familiar with operation of various specialized equipment (sewer machines, jetting machine, and line camera equipment) Ability to operate backhoe Meet minimum physical requirements (pre-employment examination required) Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and written Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Examine assigned facilities for purpose of general maintenance. Enter and complete work orders as requested. Responsible for safe condition of assigned facilities. Must have regular and consistent attendance. Perform other duties as assigned. Equipment Used:
Power tools (drill, saw, etc.), hand tools, welder (gas and electric air), shop tools (band saw, table saw), ladders, and lifts. Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Continual walking and standing; frequent heavy lifting and carrying; climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work outside and inside. Possible exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, and odors. Possible exposure to mechanical, electrical and chemical hazards. Work around moving objects or vehicles.
