Partner with the best The Field Winding Engineer is responsible for providing electrical and winding repair services to customers operating a wide range of equipment, including generators, motors, and ancillary systems.
Responsibilities:
Perform winding inspection, electrical testing, maintenance, and repairs on generator HV windings on customer sites globally.
Provide basic mechanical strip-down (and rebuild) of machines to access generator windings, along with electrical testing on high and low voltage windings.
Conduct visual inspections of windings, stator, rotor, and excitation systems; perform in-situ generator winding repairs, including stator re-wedge work.
Work as part of a team for on-site stator strip and rewind operations.
Assist mechanical service engineers on various assignments, not necessarily winding-related.
Supervise and train internal and external customers.
Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and requirements; prepare method statements and detailed reports for customers; attend technical meetings.
Conduct on-site risk assessments for each assignment and document accordingly.
Qualifications:
Technical degree from an accredited institution and 3+ years of field service experience.
Competencies with tooling such as basic hand tools, multi-meters, megger, rigging, and generator-specific tooling.
Experience with air, hydrogen, and liquid cooled generators in 2 and 4 pole configurations.
Experience with high voltage generator testing methods such as PI, DC Leakage, and Hipot.
Experience with robotic test equipment like RoGIS, MAGIC, and MAGIC Jr. is preferred.
Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally 75-85% of the time or as needed.
