Join One of the Southeast’s Leading Design-Build Landscape Firms – Right Here in Houston!
RCI is seeking a Licensed Landscape Architect ready to take their career to the next level. With more than four decades of industry leadership, RCI is one of the largest and most respected design-build landscape firms in the Southeast—and we’re expanding our vision and talent in the Houston area.
This is more than a job, it’s a tremendous opportunity to shape landscapes that define commercial environments, public spaces, and high-profile developments. As a member of our award-winning team, you’ll work with some of the most experienced professionals in the business, contribute to landmark projects, and grow your career within a company committed to innovation, excellence, and your success.
What We're Looking For
We’re looking for a seasoned pro—someone with at least 6 years of experience, registered licensure in Texas (or able to obtain inside 6 months).
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Land F/X, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office, and experience with 3D platforms is a big plus.
Our ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of:
Land and policy planning
Swimming pool and hardscape design
Planting, accent lighting, and irrigation design
Grading and drainage design
Construction drawing, detailing, and specifications
Color rendering and 3D compositions
Irrigation and drainage planning
Construction documents and detailing
Coastal hardiness plant and horticulture knowledge
Municipal building code and landscape ordinance
Our Ideal Candidate
Is the kind of person who doesn’t just want to design—they want to own their projects. They’re confident working on their own, but also know how to collaborate across teams and enjoy helping others. They understand the nuts and bolts of the construction process and have experience working alongside other trades on active job sites.
They enjoy meeting new people and bolstering relationships with clients, consultants, officials, and fellow workers. They’re full of energy, highly organized, and thrive under pressure. They’re a creative thinker and not afraid to sketch and write out solutions freehand.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
This is a high-impact role at the forefront of RCI’s Texas expansion. As the first Landscape Architect in our Houston office, this role will help lay the foundation for a growing regional team. Working closely with our Director of Landscape Architecture, as well as business development and maintenance leads, this Landscape Architect will be integral in shaping the future of our design services in the region.
They will play an active role in:
Defining project strategies
Guiding the creative and technical direction of designs
Ensuring precise and high-quality execution from concept through completion
They’ll also participate in weekly planning meetings with company leadership, giving them early and ongoing visibility into business priorities—and the opportunity to make a real impact from day one. This role includes direct client engagement: selling design commissions, delivering exceptional drawings, and exceeding expectations through thoughtful, innovative work.
As our Texas footprint grows, they’ll work hand-in-hand with the Director of Landscape Architecture to scale the team—evolving this position from a solo seat into a leadership role within a multi-person regional design group.
This full-time position is based in Spring, TX and follows a Monday to Friday day-shift schedule. The ability to reliably commute—or relocate prior to starting—is required. Some travel will also be expected, both locally for project visits and across our other markets to support cross-regional collaboration.
