Lead Consultant, Ports and Marine Civil/Structural Engineering

WSP USA is seeking a Lead Consultant, Ports and Marine Engineering to join our National Maritime Practice Group. This position can be based out of Irvine, San Francisco, San Diego-CA, Miami-FL, Portland-OR, Seattle-WA, Houston-TX, or Tampa-FL. Your Impact Provide leadership for engineering tasks including collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, survey data, technical reports and drawings, and other data matrices for project development, design, and construction. Lead development of construction plans and schedules, specifications, and cost estimates for ports and marine projects. Prepare and implement site safety activity plans and coordinate field work activities. Manage cross-functional teams to execute project work on mid-level projects and/or multiple concurrent smaller projects. Collaborate with other engineers and multi-disciplinary teams on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects. Track budgets and milestones; support completion of Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E) submissions. Write technical reports and documentation of findings using sketches, calculations, spreadsheets, technical drawings, and engineering software (including SAP2000 and similar FEM tools). Lead staff engineers in applying higher-order engineering techniques to develop project design requirements, incorporating marine-practice engineering standards and specifications. Identify project site, design and construction risks and provide mitigation solutions. Provide high-level technical assistance on advanced finite element models for design of fixed and floating marine structures; design and detailing of reinforced/prestressed concrete and steel components for deep foundation systems as well as substructure and superstructure elements. Prepare and monitor project task budgets, staffing, and schedules. Prepare and give presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to internal and external team members as well as clients. Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner. Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures; complete all assigned trainings. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Who You Are

Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited program; Registered Professional Engineer licensure (multi-state preferred). 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in marine project design, rehabilitation and new design. Experience in analysis and design of marine projects; proficiency in SAP2000 and/or equivalent FEM tools; design and detailing of reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, and steel components per ACI, AISC, PCI, and/or AASHTO. Experience with AutoCAD, REVIT, and related BIM tools. Construction experience in ports and marine projects. Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating design and construction documents to meet domestic/international agency standards. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; proficient in technical report writing. Self-leadership with attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and work independently or in a team to meet objectives. Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to WSP safety policies. Occasional travel may be required; ability to work schedules beyond the typical workweek as project needs may require. Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited program with 10+ years of post-education design experience in ports and marine structures. Proficiency with domestic and international marine terminal codes (e.g., MOTEMS, ASCE COPRI, PIANC) and DoD criteria (UFC, UFGC). Experience with LSDYNA or similar software; participation in professional practice organizations. Experience with marine, port, and coastal construction laws and regulatory compliance; field investigation or construction support experience for port and marine structures. Additional qualifications: commercial dive license (ADCI or DCBC) in addition to above. Compensation and Benefits
