Project Manager (MEP Construction)

Our Project Managers are experienced in commercial HVAC and Mechanical Construction and enjoy the challenge of unique designs, projects and deadlines. You will run jobs big and small, coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, provide leadership to project engineers, and partner with field staff to ensure flawless project delivery. You will manage project milestones and coordinate resource requirements. The role requires exercising good judgment and working autonomously within company processes. You are eager to learn the Southland way, collaborate with others at all levels, and share your past knowledge to help the team succeed. You are willing to execute all levels of project management activities and thrive in a collaborative, multi-team environment to achieve division and project goals.
What You’ll Do
Provide support to a single large project or multiple projects managed by a Senior Project Manager and Project Engineers
Collaborate with craftspeople, foremen, and the owner as we self-perform work
Plan mechanical projects from start to finish with understanding of all moving parts and how to manage the process
Apply LEAN principles and align delivery with owner expectations
Manage financials and keep the project on track
Develop and nurture customer relationships beyond a single project
Mentor younger team members and contribute to a culture that values People
What You’ll Need To Be Successful
Strong knowledge of building systems, HVAC, mechanical, piping, including design, construction, and operation
Excellent planning, innovation, and process-improvement skills
Ability to lead the team in innovative construction techniques and prefabrication strategies
Experience managing mechanical construction projects for a mechanical company
Accountability, initiative, and the ability to get things done with minimal supervision
Creative problem-solving skills and practical field experience
Strong leadership, business acumen, and integrity
Understanding of project financials and forecasting
Strong relationships with the field and ability to motivate people
Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders to achieve mutual outcomes
What You Bring To The Table
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management, 7–10+ years in related field
Experience with an MEP firm managing multiple MEP projects
Experience with Design/Build and IPD projects is a plus
Familiarity with Lean Construction tools is a plus
Experience on data centers, federal work, industrial and/or healthcare is a plus
