Lead CMC Manufacturing Engineer - Non-Conventional Machining
Join GE Aerospace for the Lead CMC Manufacturing Engineer role focused on non-conventional machining methods including EDM, laser drilling, and laser ablation. This process owner will analyze performance, drive continuous improvement, and enable operations to own and operate the process.
Job Description Summary The Lead CMC Manufacturing Engineer will be a process owner for non-conventional machining. The process owner will be responsible for analyzing process performances, developing continuous improvement actions, implementing these improvements, and enabling our operations team to own and operate the process.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop machining programs using G&M Code, C++, and/or C#
Read and understand prints/drawings and have an advanced knowledge of GD&T
Develop planning, processes, and work instructions
Troubleshoot & prove‑out processes and programs, direct process validation activities, and validate work using multiple techniques
Develop necessary tooling directly and through collaboration with internal and external partners
Work autonomously as well as collaboratively in identifying needs and validation plans, providing proactive support to meet manufacturing requirements
Perform other duties as assigned to support manufacturing processes in the metrology space
Follow system standards to develop, implement, and manage change of metrology processes
Leadership & Communication
Translate technical processes to train and empower operators and technicians
Act as Manufacturing Engineer or Process Engineer in assigned areas of responsibility
Establish baseline operations, manage recipes, establish process capability, and drive process capability enhancements
Lead problem solving through structured problem solving in a collaborative team environment
Work in collaboration with stakeholders to ensure effective upstream and downstream interactions and impacts
Present internally on metrics, project status, and team priorities
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years CNC Machining or automated Assembly and test experience)
Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing engineering experience
Desired Characteristics
Strong mathematical, analytical, writing, and communication skills
Experience programming 3,4, & 5 axis CNC, Laser machining, EDM machining or complex automated assembly and test processes
Programming or scripting experience (G&M Code, C++, C# , Python, etc.)
Experience with point cloud‑based inspection using GOM Hardware and GOM Inspect software
Strong knowledge of GD&T and how to apply GD&T to inspection routines to satisfy print dimensions
Self‑starter – quick learner & able to identify alternative solutions for optimum results
Experience in application of structured problem solving in continuous improvement
Previous high‑volume manufacturing shop experience in Metrology / Inspection discipline
Strong collaboration & presentation skills in order to gain buy‑in & effectively communicate program/process implementations and changes to the organization
