Supplier Quality Engineer – Visium Resources, Inc.
Location: Middletown, CT | Contract | 6‑12 months, onsite.
Base pay: $39.42/hr – $46.15/hr (actual pay based on skills and experience).
Job Summary The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) ensures suppliers meet contractual, regulatory and internal quality standards for parts and materials. The role conducts supplier audits, performs root cause analysis, drives corrective actions, rejects defective parts if necessary, and manages first article inspections and supplier development.
Responsibilities
Maintain supplier rating system and enforce total cost of ownership.
Implement supplier approval system in a cost‑effective manner.
Evaluate lean initiatives at supplier facilities and assist in implementation.
Coordinate supplier manufacturing readiness reviews and supplier request for variance.
Conduct capability assessments, travel to assigned suppliers, and lead projects to completion.
Act as primary interface between the company and suppliers to resolve technical problems and perform source control inspections.
Coordinate with functional departments to resolve issues in a timely manner.
Maintain effective communications with other departments and suppliers.
Prepare and maintain reports on supplier performance, survey results, specification compliance and corrective actions.
Develop and implement supplier quality‑related training programs for the quality and sourcing teams.
Collect and analyze supplier quality and delivery data to design cost‑effective improvement plans.
Maintain approved supplier list and monitor suppliers for continuous improvements.
Follow standard departmental and company practices and procedures.
Qualify for appropriate security clearance if required to access DoD classified information.
Requirements
BS degree in electrical, mechanical, industrial engineering or related field.
7+ years of related experience.
Broad knowledge of general technical fields such as electrical, mechanical, industrial engineering.
Thorough understanding of ISO 9000 regulations and certification process.
Strong attention to detail, consistency in accuracy, and personal sense of responsibility for work.
Ability to work independently, devise new methods, and make decisions guided by precedent and company policies.
Understand the importance of confidentiality when handling proprietary business information.
