CODEX Engineering Managers (EMs) are accountable to the Engineering Director for hiring and staffing their engineers. The goal of this role is to ensure we are attracting, retaining, growing, and utilizing engineering talent appropriately to meet customer missions.
An EM will only be assigned through approval of CODEX Engineering Director via an interview process.
Engineering Manager Roles and Responsibilities Each EM shall be:
Accountable for ensuring their engineers are appropriately staffed on their programs with respect to skillsets and career goals
Accountable for identifying Group Leads (GLs) from engineering population
Accountable for providing performance feedback to engineers and their managers (GLs)
Accountable for mentorship of engineers including:
Mentoring leadership/professional behavior
Identifying and facilitating mentorship of technical skills
Identifying and facilitating training opportunities
Accountable for monitoring employee performance and identifying appropriate staff for responsible programs
Accountable for identifying and providing appropriate staff on assigned proposals, whitepapers, and ROMs
Accountable for ensuring engineers placed on assigned programs are appropriately skilled, meet clearance requirements and are effectively meeting program needs
Accountable for the retention of key staff within their engineering team
Engineering Manager Relationships Each EM shall provide:
Qualified engineering talent with appropriate clearance/location/skills to Program Managers and technical leads
Career growth opportunities for engineers
Communication to Nightwing security to ensure that engineers maintain appropriate clearances
Support to the capture organization, serving as the primary contact in engineering
Support to the Engineering Director and Leadership team
Engineering Manager Qualifications Each EM shall possess:
An active Top Secret clearance with the ability to acquire an SCI within 6 months
At least 10 years of professional experience in a relevant engineering discipline
Demonstrated interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
The ability to deliver and receive constructive criticism
3+ years of experience with Offensive and/or Defensive Cyber Operations engineering
Each EM is preferred to have:
3+ years of professional experience working for CODEX
EMs are not expected to have any specific degrees, certifications, etc. unless explicitly required by domain.
