Ten miles from the SAIC headquarters, our Chantilly, VA team supports systems development, targeting & intelligence analysis, systems engineering & integration and more.
This position is for a Ground Segment System Engineer for a large contract supporting a cutting-edge and innovative space program. The Ground Segment System Engineer leads ground-related systems engineering activities and oversees developer software development progress. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Role Responsibilities
Provide advice/analysis on ground segment requirements, design, development, integration, test, deployment, and operations support
Support the development of ground segment architecture, CONOPS, and requirements
Support relevant ground segment specification development and test planning activities
Support coordination and completion of ground segment specification sell-off, along with other verification and validation activities
Lead interface definition between the ground segment and external interfaces
Coordinate across the Program Office for any proposed specification changes and facilitate integration of changes into the baseline
Advise and mentor customer personnel regarding Segment architecture, specification, and verification and validation
Represent the Program Office at developer Agile events; ensuring that the customer and stakeholder needs are prioritized
Engage with Agile Development teams to assess implementation and execution
Assess developer test approaches and serve as Customer Witness to integration, verification, and validation tests. Report results to the Program Office team
Provide technical and cost assessment of vendor proposals, review technical reports, design artifacts and program plans
Qualifications
Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
Bachelors and 9 years of relevant experience; OR Masters and 7 years of relevant experience
Experience working on a Government or Commercial satellite program
Satellite tasking, collection, processing, exploitation, or dissemination (TCPED) experience
Familiarity with cloud technologies
Effective communication, coordination, and customer engagement skills
Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and team environment with no supervision.
Desired Qualifications
Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certification or similar
INCOSE certification or similar
Experience with cloud-based satellite ground systems
