A Day in the Life of an Electrical Engineer at Hanson — This position will be part of Hanson’s electrical engineering team that serves local and nationwide clients in support of multiple discipline design and construction projects, including DOTs, Class I Railroads, DoD, Fortune 500 private industry, and other facilities. General duties include the design of power distribution systems, lighting and lighting controls, and integration of low voltage systems (fire alarm, voice/data, access controls, multimedia, CCTV, etc.). Travel may be required, including out-of-state trips, to meet project requirements. Responsibilities
Design of power distribution systems for airport, commercial, governmental, and industrial facilities Lighting design and lighting controls Integration of low voltage systems (fire alarm, voice/data, electronic access controls, multimedia, CCTV, etc.) Lightning protection and grounding systems Site lighting design and electrical medium voltage distribution Generator systems and emergency transfer switches Low Voltage Power distribution for buildings and facilities Consideration of renewable energy sources Fire alarm, nurse call, telephone, multimedia, and security systems What We’re Looking For
Skills
Knowledge of electrical, building, and energy codes Ability to collaborate on multiple projects concurrently Ability to provide task leadership to CAD/Revit technicians and other engineers/designers Experience observing field conditions and communicating with contractors Strong written and oral communication skills Strong understanding of power system design analysis Familiarity with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and REVIT Familiarity with lighting calculation software (Visual, AGI32) Familiarity with generator sizing software (Cummins Power Suite, Cat Electric Power Specsizer) Familiarity with voltage drop, fault current and arc flash calculators (EDR, Easypower, SKM, Design Master) Familiarity with energy analysis software (ComCheck and FLACOM EnergyGauge) Education/Experience
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering Licensure as a professional engineer in Electrical Engineering or ability to obtain licensure within six (6) months Minimum of 3 years in the consulting professional services industry, in the Electrical Engineering discipline Experience with electrical construction drawings, specifications, submittals review and construction administration Salary range: $80,000 - $120,000 Benefits
