We’re looking for a senior-level Geotechnical Engineer to join our Federal and Environmental group. You’ll focus on the geotechnical aspects of environmental remediation sites for government and private-sector clients, working out of a US office with opportunities to contribute on nationwide projects.
Responsibilities
Lead geotechnical design for environmental remediation projects, including planning, evaluating, designing, and implementing geotechnical components of remedies.
Evaluate site conditions, determine geotechnical data needs, assess remedial alternatives, perform engineering calculations, and develop designs.
Prepare work plans, reports, and design documents, including design specifications.
Serve as a resource and leader to junior and mid-level engineers, sharing knowledge and mentoring others.
Collaborate with Design Managers and discipline leads; take ownership of assigned tasks and manage work across multiple projects, prioritizing effectively.
Spend up to 10–15% of time in the field to kick off field events and train junior staff in gathering high-quality geotechnical data.
Maintain a strong focus on Health & Safety and contribute to incident-free operations.
Qualifications
Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Geo-Environmental Engineering, Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 15 years of professional on-the-job experience in geotechnical design demonstrated by projects or research.
High-level knowledge of geotechnical and design concepts; experience with geotechnical aspects of environmental remedial actions.
Experience with slope stability, settlement, groundwater seepage, retaining wall design, seismic design, and ground improvement; construction oversight of implemented designs is a plus.
Familiarity with software such as Rocscience Settle3/Slide2/3, BSI FB Multiplier, PDI GRL Weap, Mathcad Prime, Deep Excavation, Ensoft’s Apile, Lpile, PyWall & Group, Plaxis 3D, and SNAP-2.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Strong writing and communication skills and experience delivering key technical components for projects.
Strong attention to detail in remedial work and geotechnical data evaluation.
40-hour HAZWOPER certification or ability to obtain.
Preferred qualifications
Knowledge of and experience applying state and federal environmental regulations, including the EPA Superfund program.
On-the-job experience planning, designing, and constructing environmental remedial actions.
Experience leading environmental field work for remediation projects and understanding methodologies and procedures.
Experience overseeing subcontractors or third-party construction contractors on active project sites.
Strong organizational skills, documenting design decisions and action items.
Ability to follow up on tasks, take ownership of projects, and train/lead other engineers in the discipline.
Strong communication with coworkers, contractors, and clients; ability to work remotely with national teams.
Base salary and benefits The base pay range for this position is $120,400.00 to $180,000.00 per year, with pay determined by location, skills, experience, and education.

Eligible employees may enroll in a deferred compensation plan or the Executive Deferral Plan.
