Overview
Electric Boat is the premier designer and builder of nuclear-powered submarines for the US Navy, currently experiencing a period of unprecedented growth! We are seeking individuals eager to learn and grow within our Grinder Department as we continue to build the most advanced submarines. The role involves working with various metals and pipes to be formed within high tolerances. As a Grinder, you will use pneumatic grinding tools to prepare a wide range of steel and alloy structures and pipes for welding, as well as finish welds. Responsibilities include removing paint, beveling edges on steel, cleaning jagged edges, grinding welds flush, and cutting and beveling pipes of various diameters. Benefits:

Required: High School Diploma/GED or 2+ years of relevant technical experience 5+ years of relevant grinding experience Preferred: High School diploma or GED Experience from vocational or technical colleges, apprentice programs, military, shipbuilding, manufacturing, or automotive sectors Skills
The candidate must be able to interpret technical manuals, shipyard procedures, test documents, drawings, and diagrams. Ability to work all shifts and in various environments, including radiological areas of the boat, is required. Candidates must be capable of qualifying as a radiological worker and willing to accept road job assignments. Willingness to obtain elevated NDT qualifications, such as Limited Magnetic Particle Inspection and Visual Inspection, as well as learning to grind pipes, is expected. Physical Qualifications
Climbing, crawling, heavy lifting, kneeling, light to medium lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping, twisting. Environmental Attributes
Work may involve exposure to acids or alkalis, cold, dry, dusty, fumes, hot environments, inside and outside conditions, noise, oily conditions, and wet environments.
