Design Automation Engineer
to join our growing engineering team. Location: Milwaukee, WI • Industry: Manufacturing Responsibilities
SolidWorks Design & Modeling
Create and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, and drawings that meet engineering and manufacturing standards. Support new product development and existing product modifications.
DriveWorks Automation
Develop and maintain automation rules, templates, and configurators within
DriveWorks
to streamline repetitive design tasks. Collaborate with engineers and sales teams to build product configurators that enable rapid customization.
PDM Administration
Manage engineering data and documentation through
SolidWorks PDM . Ensure compliance with version control, workflow approvals, and data integrity standards. Provide user support, training, and troubleshooting for PDM-related issues.
Process Optimization
Identify opportunities to automate workflows and reduce design cycle times. Develop best practices, standards, and documentation for CAD and automation processes. Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and IT to align design automation with business needs.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in
mechanical engineering ,
Manufacturing Engineering , or related field (or equivalent experience). Proficiency in
SolidWorks
(Certified SolidWorks Professional [CSWP] or higher preferred). Hands-on experience with
DriveWorks
(DriveWorks Solo/Pro is a plus). Strong knowledge of
SolidWorks PDM
administration and workflows. Familiarity with
design for manufacturability (DFM)
and product lifecycle management (PLM) principles. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment. Preferred Skills
Experience with ERP or MRP system integrations. Knowledge of VBA, SQL, or other programming/scripting languages for customization. Exposure to automation tools beyond DriveWorks (e.g., API development, macros). Strong communication skills with the ability to train and support CAD/PDM users.
