Water Plant Maintenance Mechanic (BC-11) $6,087/month Installs, repairs, maintains and overhauls a variety of water pumping plant and related water systems equipment, such as horizontal centrifugal pumping units, deepwell turbine pumping units, reservoir altitude valves, service altitude valve control units, chemical feed pumps, chlorinators and differential converters; and performs other related duties as required. There is one (1) vacancy with the
Honolulu Board of Water Supply , Water System Operations Division. Work hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM. Performs journey level work in the installing, testing, overhauling, repairing and maintaining pumping plants and water systems equipment, machinery and instruments such as: deepwell turbine and horizontal centrifugal pumps and motors, automatic valves, chlorinators, flow recorders and meters, pressure/suction vacuum gages and recorders, hydraulic systems, ventilating and cooling equipment, piping systems, cable cars, etc. Under general supervision, participates in the installation, maintenance, overhaul and repair of plant electrical and electronic control devices, electrical systems, air conditioning equipment and appliances, and wiring devices pertaining to pumping plants, water treatment plants, water storage facilities, office buildings and other types buildings and structures. Special Working Conditions: High voltage electricity, heavy machinery, chlorine gas, moving machinery, working on scaffolds. The various equipment may be located underground on building and reservoir roofs and remote locations that may require traversing uneven terrain. Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to competently perform the journey level skills and duties of this position, or which show equivalent competence in the repair and overhaul of pumping plant, power plant, marine engine room, or related industrial type equipment, or in the repair and overhaul of rotating machinery such as motorized vehicles, heavy motorized vehicles and equipment, construction equipment, aircraft, and heavy industrial equipment and machinery. License Requirement
Possession of an appropriate valid driver\'s license (automobile/Type 3), prior to appointment. Seniority level
