Correctional Nurse Practitioner (NP) , you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence within a controlled environment where security is a top priority. You will assess, diagnose and treat patients with a range of medical conditions and chronic illnesses, prescribe medications, respond to emergencies, and perform a variety of duties to support the health and well-being of a diverse patient population with complex medical needs. Responsibilities

Conduct physical examinations, develop treatment plans, and monitor patients Manage acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes Administer medications and provide patient instructions Monitor and document patient health including vital signs and medical histories Provide direct patient care, triage, assess patient needs, develop care plans, and coordinate services Respond to medical emergencies, provide first aid, and arrange timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities Educate patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention Adhere to correctional facility security protocols while collaborating with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals Maintain accurate medical records and report relevant information Conduct rounds and evaluate patients returning from off-site treatment Admit and discharge patients from the facility Qualifications

Advanced nursing education (Master's or Doctorate) Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner Current unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Georgia Current DEA registration Appropriate collaborative agreement with the on-site Physician Active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA preferred) Board certification recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties Knowledge of nursing practice principles, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, and applicable healthcare laws and procedures for direct health care services Ability to maintain confidentiality of information Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and in a team Experience in a correctional facility or acute care center is a plus Integrity, professionalism, and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and facility policies and legal requirements Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening Physical Capabilities

Must be able to stand for long periods, lift and move patients up to 50 pounds, bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks (e.g., CPR) while maintaining balance and endurance during shifts. Why Join NaphCare?
