The Healthy Brain Aging Initiative (HBAI) is a Tulane Department of Neurology banner with centers for Alzheimer’s Prevention, Memory Disorders, and Parkinson’s Disease, in partnership with LCMC Health to create the region’s only multi-institutional healthy brain aging initiative in the Gulf South. Responsibilities
This is a clinical and research position. The neuropsychologist will dedicate 60% effort to clinical practice and 40% to research, with possible minor variations. Responsibilities include: Comprehensive neuropsychological assessments of patients with aging, behavioral, and cognitive disorders, including subjective cognitive impairment, mild cognitive impairment, early dementia (Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, Lewy body dementia, frontotemporal dementia), primary progressive aphasia, posterior cortical atrophy, and other neurocognitive and neurobehavioral disorders. Comprehensive neuropsychological assessments of patients with other neurological disorders including Parkinson’s disease and related disorders, Huntington’s disease, and other movement disorders. Standard assessments pre- and post- deep brain stimulation surgery. Comprehensive neuropsychological assessments of patients with other neurological disorders, where neurocognitive, neurobehavioral, or neuropsychiatric manifestations are suspected. Conduct neuropsychological assessments of research subjects in support of the population health initiatives and clinical trials research of the Tulane Healthy Brain Aging Initiative, and more broadly of the Department of Neurology and Center for Clinical Neurosciences. Submit grants for external funding support to NIH and similar sources, to offset salary expenses and to grow Neurology research revenues. Details
