Position:
Diagnostic Anatomic Pathologist. Asst/Assoc/Full Professor of Clinical Diagnostic Pathology in the California Animal Health & Food Safety Laboratory System (CAHFS) and Department of Pathology Microbiology & Immunology, School of Veterinary Medicine, University of California, Davis. The successful candidate will be in residence at the CAHFS laboratory on the UC Davis campus. Salary range:
The salary range for this position is $172,200 - $323,400. Off-scale salaries and other components of pay (i.e., a salary higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step) are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions, qualifications, and experience. Position description
The salary range for this position is $172,200 - $323,400. Off-scale salaries and other components of pay, i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions, qualifications, and experience. Responsibilities include: Function primarily as a diagnostic pathologist in the CAHFS, Davis laboratory located on the UC Davis campus. The diagnostic caseload includes a variety of livestock, avian and wildlife species with an emphasis on disease conditions affecting food animal species. Interaction with veterinarians, owners and livestock producers is an integral part of this position. Demonstrated ability in diagnostic anatomic pathology and applied research; diagnostic disciplines, disease investigation and diagnostic interpretation experience required. Research: Creative use of diagnostic case material including publication of results in appropriate journals is essential. Teaching: Limited teaching responsibilities to veterinary and graduate students; contribute significantly to resident training. Service: University and public service through departmental, school and university committee work, participation in professional organizations, continuing education and other appropriate activities is required.
Qualifications Basic qualifications
(required at time of application): DVM or equivalent degree with experience in mammalian/avian diseases Board certification or eligibility for board certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) or European College of Veterinary Pathologists (ECVP) required Appointment renewal to the 4th year requires ACVP or ECVP board certification Demonstrated ability in diagnostic anatomic pathology and applied research Demonstrated experience in diagnostic disciplines, disease investigation and diagnostic interpretation Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; client-focused, service-oriented approach; ability to work in a collegial team Preferred qualifications
(not required): Advanced degree in veterinary pathology or related field Knowledge of quality assurance, molecular diagnostics and bacteriology
