Overview This is a fast paced position in the Children's Urgent Care Clinic with direct patient care. The clinic operates Monday through Friday 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM, Saturday and Sunday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The position includes every 3rd weekend and 2 call shifts every 6 months.

Job Summary Answers patient inquiries over the telephone, assesses the severity of the patient's symptoms and medical needs according to triage algorithms. Guides the patient to the appropriate level of care; schedules patient appointments over the phone with appropriate healthcare providers/facilities/physicians. Documents information provided to patients during triage in health record systems and maintains patient health information for follow-up care. Develops and maintains triage protocols and ensures department competencies and certifications as required. Educates patients based on calls received.

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited nursing program (AACN, ACEN, NLN CNEA) preferred. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.

One year of healthcare experience preferred.

Current unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where practice occurs; multistate licensure in NLC states acceptable where applicable. Nurses must be licensed in the states where patients reside when practicing over the telephone. Within 30 days of employment, all requirements to obtain the necessary license for the role must be completed.

Obtains and maintains required department-specific competencies and certifications.
