Lead Pharmacy Technician Full Time, 80 Hours per pay period, Day Shift Parkwest Overview:

Pharmacy Department:

The Pharmacy Department is open 24/7. We provide all medication needs throughout the hospital, including procedural and patient care areas. Our staff consists of Licensed Pharmacists and Registered Pharmacy Technicians, with a current ratio of about 50:50. The pharmacist and techs work closely to meet patient needs. The pharmacy is newly renovated with Omnicell Carousels in the main Pharmacy, Omnicell nursing medication cabinets, and anesthesia workstations. The IV Room is also newly renovated, compliant with Chapter 797 and 800, with a soon-to-be-completed renovation of the OR Pharmacy Satellite IV Room. The department is actively involved in medication reconciliation, pharmacokinetic dosing, renal dosing, antibiotic stewardship, formulary management, and auto-substitution of medications as approved by medical staff. We have a strong relationship with medical staff, allowing us to expand our patient care roles. Restocking medications in Omnicells throughout the hospital is also part of our responsibilities. Schedules:

Rotating shifts and weekends. Some staff work seven days on, seven days off during late evening and overnight shifts. Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the pharmacist, performs functions related to medication dispensing. Technical skills include IV process proficiency, problem-solving, and quality improvement involvement. Meet performance criteria for Level I, II, and advanced pharmacy technicians. Assist in developing new projects. Participate in intra-departmental communication and information dissemination. Engage in pharmacy-related community projects as needed. Prepare technician schedules ensuring appropriate staffing and skill coverage. Supervise Level 1-3 technicians in daily tasks. Evaluate technician performance. Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards; complete annual education; participate in quality initiatives. Attend meetings and serve on committees as directed; participate in professional organizations as hospital representatives. Qualifications:

Minimum Education:

None specified; must meet standards for required license/certification. Minimum Experience:

Five (5) years or four (4) years with State-approved certification. Licensure Requirement:

The Tennessee Board of Pharmacy requires newly hired employees to be licensed within 90 days and maintain an active Technician License thereafter.
