Summary: The Electrical Designer II designs and drafts cost effective, manufacturable electromechanical equipment and systems. This role will translate engineering design concepts into practical, producible drawings. Principal Accountabilities: Confers with engineers and other designers to interpret design concepts, determines nature and type of required detailed drawings, and coordinates appropriate efforts. Drafts detail and assembly drawings as well as electrical diagrams, using conventional instruments and computerized work aids and CAD design tools. Analyzes specifications, sketches, engineering drawings and related design data to determine critical factors affecting components, based on knowledge of previous designs, manufacturing processes, and recognized design standards. Prepares preliminary and final drawings adequate for manufacturing Universal equipment, and develops revisions to create practical design applications. Works with manufacturing and procurement engineering during the design phase and during transition of engineering products to the manufacturing floor, to ensure that products can be produced efficiently. Minimum Requirements: Associate's degree or equivalent vocational training in drafting techniques. 3+ years of relevant CAD experience. Relevant industry experience is preferred. Responsibility for Quality Procedures or Direct Product Quality: Adheres to Universal Quality System policies and procedures and uses Total Cycle Time principles and standard problem solving tools to continuously improve work processes. Physical Demands: Requires the ability to use a computer on a frequent basis. Position requires the ability to understand and interpret detailed documents and drawings.
