Role Summary/Purpose The Edison Works Manufacturing Engineering Manager will be accountable for achieving functional, business, and company objectives while leading a cross-functional team. The role involves developing and executing manufacturing processes from concept to production, including design for manufacturing, process optimization, and digital transformation. You will collaborate across functions to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets are met, and drive strategic resource utilization to support manufacturing and technology initiatives.
Essential Responsibilities
Lead and develop the Manufacturing Engineering team, fostering expertise, operational rigor, innovation, and alignment with business goals.
Coordinate producibility engineering with product development to ensure manufacturability and readiness, mitigating risks early.
Work with production and suppliers to optimize manufacturing operations through process development, tooling, continuous improvement, and process capability.
Lead technology maturation, pilot demonstrations, and scale-up for full-rate production.
Apply expertise in disciplines such as machining, fabrication, joining, castings, composites, digital, inspection, quality, automation, etc.
Manage project scope, budgets, resources, milestones, and timelines for program execution.
Oversee budgets and operating plans, ensuring proper funding and meeting targets.
Ensure effective task management, risk mitigation, and stakeholder communication.
Demonstrate leadership in reviews, discussions, and risk management with stakeholders.
Promote clear communication and resolve escalations to meet business objectives.
Develop talent through matching skills to work scope and leading career initiatives.
Uphold safety and quality standards, fostering a lean culture with FLIGHT DECK principles.
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical/manufacturing, aerospace, industrial engineering, or related field; or Master's in applied science, physics, or mathematics.
Minimum of 8 years in engineering, manufacturing, or operations.
Ability to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
Desired Characteristics
Current DoD Secret (or higher) Clearance.
Experience with DoD customers and processes.
Strong project management skills, especially with large programs or DoD EVM projects.
Experience in aerospace manufacturing processes and materials.
Leadership experience.
Advanced degree in related engineering fields.
Strategic thinking, problem-solving, and strong interpersonal skills.
