The Facilities & Utilities Engineer ensures the reliable performance and compliance of Empower’s facilities infrastructure and GMP-critical utilities. By leading projects, optimizing systems, and resolving technical challenges, this role supports safe, efficient operations and advances Empower’s mission to provide affordable, innovative medications that help people live healthier, happier lives. duties And Responsibilities

Plans, designs, and manages engineering projects for critical utilities and facility infrastructure including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), purified water (PW), water-for-injection (WFI), clean steam, boilers, chillers, compressed air, and Building/Environmental Management System (BMS/EMS) integration. Develops and maintains project documentation including User Requirement Specifications (URS), Functional Requirement Specifications (FRS), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and commissioning/qualification protocols (Factory Acceptance Testing [FAT], Site Acceptance Testing [SAT], Installation Qualification [IQ], Operational Qualification [OQ], Performance Qualification [PQ]). Coordinates engineering, construction, commissioning, and validation activities to deliver safe, compliant, and efficient facilities and utilities projects. Provides subject matter expertise in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance optimization of utility systems while integrating preventive and predictive maintenance strategies into design. Partners with Operations, Quality, and Validation to ensure projects meet regulatory requirements including FDA 21 CFR Parts 210/211, EU GMP Annex 1, ISO 14644, and USP. Knowledge And Skills

Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to manage capital projects, coordinate vendors, and collaborate across cross-functional teams. Technical expertise in clean utilities including WFI, PW, clean steam, HVAC, compressed air, boilers, chillers, and associated control systems; proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office 365 required. Requires minimum of five years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology facilities and utilities engineering with demonstrated project execution in a regulated environment. Requires a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, or facilities engineering; a master’s degree is preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) license; Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred. Employee Benefits
