Job Summary:
Responsible for technical functions in support of engineering and manufacturing. Responsibilities include hardware design, schematic capture and layout in Altium, troubleshooting, verification testing, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electro-mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry or specialized test equipment, and supporting regulatory and safety compliance. Applications may include analog, digital, graphical interface, external peripheral integration using common communication protocols and other hardware system implementations. Will apply principles and theories of electronics, electrical circuitry, engineering mathematics, electronic and electrical testing, and physics. Conducts engineering tests and detailed experimental testing to collect design data or assist in research work. Performs operational tests and fault isolation on systems and equipment. Assists in determining methods to remedy malfunctions. Assists in the design, construction, test and verification of production test equipment. Utilizes manufacturing test, development or diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital volt meters, signal generators, logic analyzers and specialized test apparatus. Responsibilities
Discusses layout and assembly procedures and problems with Engineers or management and draws sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic units. Recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance. Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and troubleshoot functions. Sets up standard test apparatus or devises to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and life tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production models. Analyzes and interprets test data. Adjusts, calibrates, aligns, and modifies circuitry and components and records effects on unit performance. May write technical reports and develops charts, graphs, and schematics to describe and illustrate system operating characteristics, malfunctions, deviations from design specifications, and functional limitations. Checks functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions. Reads wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, or engineering instructions for assembling electronics units, applying knowledge of electronic theory and components. Performs preventative maintenance or calibration of equipment or systems. Adjusts or replaces defective or improperly functioning circuitry or electronics components, using hand tools or soldering iron. Identifies and resolves equipment malfunctions, working with external and/or internal sources as necessary to procure replacement parts. Maintains system logs or manuals to document testing or operation of equipment. Provides user applications or engineering support or recommendations for new or existing equipment regarding installation, upgrades, or enhancements. Provides customer support and education, working with users to identify needs, determine sources of problems, or to provide information on product use.
