Evaluate and design plumbing projects and systems to specification on projects ranging from new design/build to rehabilitation of existing facilities and systems. Provide ongoing technical guidance and engineering issue resolution as needed.
What you’ll do:
Produce new and review existing mechanical designs identified in plans, specifications, submittals and shop drawings. Ensure compliance with engineering standards, codes, specifications and design instruction.
Identify design, process and equipment options that can satisfy client requirements, minimize costs and limit potential operational problems.
Interface directly with other disciplines and coordinate with client personnel, contractors, architects, and other project team members to ensure value engineering and the delivery of high quality projects within the prescribed time frames. Make presentations when necessary.
Provide project management with engineering guidance and quality control.
Monitor the progress of and coordinate with third-party engineering consulting firms that perform technical reviews of plumbing systems and LEED projects.
Determine methods and solutions for complex engineering problems and identify the most efficient and acceptable resolution.
Give direction to designers and junior engineers assisting with project development.
Perform on-site field surveys. Write technical narratives in response to RFIs.
Actively participate in project scheduling and budgeting.
Maintain timely and accurate oral and written technical reports regarding assigned engineering activities.
Perform additional assignments as requested/needed.
What you’ll need to be successful:
Extensive knowledge of engineering and design techniques plus thorough understanding of all engineering disciplines for coordination purposes.
Extensive AutoCAD/BIM knowledge and experience.
Extensive knowledge of Building Codes and Construction Standards.
Excellent analytical and technical writing skills.
Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
Advanced computer proficiency, including MS Office.
What you bring to the table:
4-yr. mechanical engineering degree or 10 years practical design experience.
Current CPD and ASPE membership strongly preferred.
LEED-accredited Professional certification strongly preferred.
5+ years experience in designing and developing plumbing systems from concept to completion.
