Position Purpose The Manager Inventory Planning & Replenishment position is responsible for developing, executing, and monitoring strategic inventory initiatives for portfolio of products in a fast-paced retail environment. The Manager will lead a team that will be accountable for the successful implementation of replenishment at store and DC level. This leader is directly responsible for the consistent execution of common processes and algorithms that are used to improve inventory performance (turns, in stock, fill rate, etc.). The Manager will be responsible for conducting flow analysis, stock balancing, ordering, finalize inventory requirements, generate orders, monitor / prioritize inbound containers, and review in stock performance for inventory, SKU’ s, and sales responsibility averaging $2-3 billion dollars annually. Requires regular interface with team of Sr Analysts and Analysts, Sr. Leadership, and cross functional peers to provide statistical analysis that will enable more accurate decision-making. Provides leadership, coaching, and guidance to a large team of Sr Analysts and Analysts, who are responsible for a wide range of categories across a merchandising department. This position interfaces with many other functional areas, including Merchandising, Distribution, Transportation, Finance, Demand Planning, and Executive Leadership. This position will also create and communicate leadership summaries and presentations.
Key Responsibilities
30% In Stock and Replenishment: Drives replenishment strategy for departments, makes new recommendations and owns implementation
20% Manages field feedback and communication
20% Interacts with Merchandising leadership, drives business reviews and inventory insight
15% Vendor communication
5% Translate and ensure training for new processes, tools and systems for all associates to understand and use
10% Coaches, manages and develops associates on the team and leads inventory cross-functional efforts around transitions/new SKUs
Direct Manager/Direct Reports
Reports to a Sr Manager.
This position has 5 direct reports.
Travel Requirements
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Qualifications:
Proven Leadership skills, working understanding of retail forecasting principles and systems clear understanding of inventory replenishment strategies.
Highly analytical, with experience in process improvement
Previous work experience in Supply Chain Management, Finance, Merchandising (previous retail experience would be valued)
Candidate must have demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to quickly retrieve, manipulate, analyze, and interpret data.
Strong quantitative skills through knowledge of statistics and quantitative data analysis and interpretation
Preferred Qualifications:
BA/BS degree preferred
2 years of previous experience in Inventory Management systems and principles and/or Supply Chain
Leadership, management experience
Statistics / Mathematics / Quantitative analysis
Minimum Education
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma and/or GED.
