You will proactively manage the budget, schedule, technical requirements, contractual obligations, and client communications to support project objectives. This role includes high‑level technical tasks while reviewing design-related specifications, calculations, reports, and plans. You will coordinate with internal and external partners, including cross-discipline and functional teams, to address and resolve design issues. What You'll Do
Develop the project scope and fee quotation and assist in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA). Serve as the primary client liaison and manage the project team to deliver scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and client satisfaction. Assist with client project scoping and contract negotiations. Perform technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specifications, and production for assigned projects. Implement the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project. Lead the development and execution of the project management plan. Supervise and mentor the team toward overall project objectives. Coordinate with managers on project staffing, including recruitment, development, retention, succession planning, and support for performance and compensation reviews. Partner with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, build client relationships, and pursue strategic and mini-mega projects. Work with project teams and marketing to prepare proposal and presentation materials. Lead proposal development and interview presentations for strategic and mini-mega projects to clients and in industry/community activities. May be responsible for recruitment, hiring, development, retention, and succession planning for staff as appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned. What You'll Need
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience 2 years task management or Deputy PM experience What You'll Bring
Winning, contracting, and successfully delivering 4-for-4 on smaller projects. Identifying and escalating risk and change management issues with oversight from more experienced staff. Leading a team for a smaller project or task order with few subconsultants. Using system tools to manage, monitor, and deliver smaller projects or task orders. Leveraging the Office Management Team to implement HNTB Sophisticated processes as applicable to the project. Interfacing with client-level peers on smaller projects or task orders. Providing technical guidance to the team and task leads, and performing portions of the technical work. What We Prefer
Master’s degree in Engineering 10 years of relevant experience Professional Engineer (PE) certification Project Management Professional (PMP) Familiarity with Vision Zero design principles Experience in managing projects focusing on bicycle and pedestrian improvements Additional Information
