Welcome! We're excited you're considering an opportunity with us! This position will focus on the day-to-day business operations of a signature service line within WVU Medicine. This role contributes to meeting departmental goals through identifying revenue enhancement, expense management, and project development opportunities. The position will lead several business functions including oversight and coordination of service contracts with non-WVU Medicine entities, project management and deployment of new tools and software systems, and monitoring, analysis, and reporting of operational metrics key to the department's success. The Medical Staff Coordinator collaborates with hospital leadership in formulating and administering a viable retention program, and works to develop, maintain and grow a strong panel of physicians and services. It also coordinates and administers day-to-day operational management and administrative support of the centralized credentialing process.

Minimum Qualifications

Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:

Two (2) years of related work experience preferred.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Conducts analysis in order to support leadership in investigating and improving budget. Reports conclusions and recommends strategies to resolve any variances.

Manages and coordinates projects with external vendors to bring on new services and software in facilitating departmental goals. Ensures projects are meeting established timelines, performing within projected pro-forma and budgets, and remaining within scope.

Conducts and participates in business meetings with Divisional and Regional leadership. Includes creating and improving reporting packages with operational, qualitative, and fiscal performance.

Manages expectations and engages management to review/resolve any potential changes to project scope, expected deliverables, etc.

Performs analysis of reporting revenue and investigates areas for improvement. Develops reporting to track, trend, and monitor success of revenue initiatives.

Reviews and summarizes large amounts of expense data with an ability to highlight areas for expense reduction to improve bottom line.

Uses analytical methods to ensure reported data is meaningful and accurate.

Develops technical ability in data analytics using various systems and tools.

Provides support in problem identification, resolution, and solution design for a variety of business needs.

Serves as first point of contact for department. Interfaces with hospital leadership and staff at various levels, with an ability to translate and communicate business concepts into actionable and meaningful terms.

Reviews, identifies and documents any issues, barriers, or risks and brings them to management's attention.

Participates in post-implementation review of projects.

Communicates effectively with physicians, hospital staff, managed care/insurance representatives, and regulatory agencies.

Demonstrates initiative in the development of contracts, both internal and external, and the development of proposals for reimbursement mechanisms.

Demonstrates an understanding of Healthcare Compliance issues.

Oversees periodic development of community-wide medical staff development plan and monitors the plan as staff changes occur.

Develops and maintains relationships with resident programs, and other physician sources.

Serves as primary contact and solution provider for all professional customers of the hospital.

Implements the appointment and reappointment process for all members of the Medical Staff.

Monitors and updates the credentialing process, including applications for appointment and reappointment, delineated privilege forms and all supporting documents, to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulatory agencies.

Maintain working knowledge of JCAHO standards, NCQA standards, URAQ standards, the State Medical Board and other regulatory agencies particularly with reference to accreditation and quality improvement.

Develops and maintains organized, systematic database to record credentialing statistics.

Electronically query the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) and the AMA for primary source verifications, and stay abreast of current trends in internet resources.

Maintain a current master copy of Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations and have a working knowledge of such policies.

Participates in JCAHO and NCQA site surveys in regard to the credentialing process.

Participates in the Credentialing Sub-committee.

Coordinates annual and semi-annual Medical Staff meetings; completes minutes and maintains the records of such proceedings.

Maintain updated individual staff profiles, reporting all changes to MCOs as contracted.

Implement and maintain credentialing software. Maintain a working knowledge of system updates, including any supporting software.

Implement and maintain data, statistical and demographic data used to generate accurate medical staff profiles, quality improvement indicators, hospital-specific delineated privilege forms, etc. on an ongoing basis.

Participates in project work identified by the Department of Medical Affairs.

Skills and Abilities Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong computer & organizational skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint particularly.

Ability to problem solve and make appropriate decisions and recommendations to leadership.

Ability to learn or familiarity with healthcare software systems.

Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously to support leadership.
